Noah and the ark

Noah And The Ark
by
Lily Peters

Before 3,000 B.C , there was Noah. Noah loved GOD and Noah praised God. Noah had three sons Shem Ham and Japhith. One day, GOD talked to Noah. He told Noah to build an ark. GOD also told Noah two of every animal in the ark. God said there was going to be world wide flood. Noah got to work right away. The other people thought Noah was crazy. Noah didn't like it but he kept building. It Noah 120 years to build the ark. When he was done he put two of every animal in the ark. Then It rained and rained for forty days and nights. Noah was on the ark 102 days. At Noah sent a dove to see if there land. the next day it came back with nothing. Noah sent the dove again. Again it came back but with a clover. At once Noah knew there was land. They got of the ark. Noah lived there with his wife and children. God made a sign that he would never flood the world again with a rainbow.

All About Me

I am Lillian Abigail Peters. I am 9 years old and was born in 2005. My birthday is May 28. Something special about me is I like to learn new things:). My favorite thing to do is to READ! I seriously love to read!!

My favorite animal is a horse! They are so CUTE!! OK. I am taking this seriously. My favorite colors are blue, yellow, and orange. I like sing up stage to show everyone. I have a pet dog named Taco. I am hoping to get a bunny. Mommy thinks that it's never going to happen.

CC is the best school in the whole world. SERIOUSLY!!! I like presentation the best. Wink. I think home schooling is better than public school. Although I've never tried it.I love myself.me LILY!!

March School

March was a fun month for school! We were working hard to learn all of our memory work so Lily could become a Memory Master for the 2nd time. One of the ways we studied was at Chuck-E-Cheese. The girls would come and answer questions in order to win tokens! They love this type of studying!

The girls also joined gymnastics. Lily learned right away how to do a cartwheel. She is enjoying the bars the most! Great p.e. activity.

We also did roller skating for p.e. time. Lily was not the best at it and had many falls, but she loved it!

Lily went nuts with reading books this month. She reads a lot of easy books because she loves fantasy and some older fantasy books have questionable things in them. We are finding more older books, but Mermaid Tales is another favorite of hers. It is a very easy read, but so much fun!

February school fun!

I love writing projects! Lily is getting older and starting to do more reports. I love seeing how they turn out. In January, she did a report on Hawaii. She also presented it to her Classical Conversations class. She ready books and studied Hawaii. Then she wrote and edited a paper. Next, she typed the report. Lastly, she drew a map of Hawaii and the state bird,  fruit, fish, etc. She did a great job and I am so proud!

Another thing that I love about CC is that my girls get to learn from their friends. Here is our friend, Hannah, teaching us about the Amazon River. She was so creative. She painted the river and then walked a long it as she told us facts. It was such an engaging demonstration. I want my girls to learn how to present their research in that way. I think this skill set will help them so much with future careers!

At CC, we have also been learning about great artists. We have studied Monet, Morisot, Rembrandt, and Gainsborough. Here our some friends drawing flowers!

For p.e., the girls went to a cartwheel workshop. It was an hour of learning and I was shocked to see how far Lily came in that hour. She still needs a little improvement, but she can do a cartwheel now!

Here is another great project by Lily. She studied World War 1 and 2 to present to her class at CC. She made this display to help show what she learned. She wrote and typed a paper on World War 1. She drew a picture of the trenches they used. She used maps to help explain where and how the wars took place. She also did a fill in the blank about World War 2. To make the presentation extra engaging, she sang her favorite CC song about the World War leaders! Love it! Her presentations are getting so good. I look forward to hearing them each week!

Next, we went on vacation. You would think that was taking a week off from vacation, but not so! First, we had bible time on the drive as we listened to and discussed Adventure in Odyssey lessons. We learned about states and maps as we drove through each state. We also went swimming for p.e.

Next, there are two Disney world parks that have a lot of educational material. Epcot and the Animal Kingdom. The best part of Animal Kingdom was the safari where we learned about different animals, but there was also the petting zoo, the walking zoo area, the bug's life show that teaches all about insects, and the musical instruments from different countries. that were being played from.

Epcot was also a great learning experience. We learned about the five senses on the Fidget Imagination ride. We studied habitats, biomes, and plant life on Living with the Land! We studied different countries by going to Poland to see Elsa and Anna from Frozen, learning about Mexico on a fun ride, using a passport to get it stamped at each country, and having different people write us in their native language or script. There was also a great area to learn about under water animals. It was a great learning experience!

Glad that learning can be so fun!

December and January school life!

Daily life is full of learning! Once a child learns to write, they are constantly writing. I included a note that Lily wrote for the tooth fairy, not because it is school work, but because it is so innocent and adorable. Even at 8 years old, Lily has the best imagination and I love that she is still at the age of believing in fairy tales...even if she might have a little idea of things..I think she still wants to believe!

Lily loves doing crafts. Here she is at a church event where she made an ornament and made a nativity picture!

Lily is involved in the It's True hip hop dance team. They meat every week and dance to christian music. I love watching them learn new dance moves and rhythm! Here they are celebrating with their friend, Bria, after their dance program!

Again, here is a little more of Lily's writing and shows her great imagination and sweet character.

Lily and Boston had fun learning about 3 dimensional shapes as they built structures using marshmallows and toothpicks!

As part of our bible curriculum, we learned about the nativity and the birth of God's son. We always enjoy using our Fontanini scene to act it out and learn about each person involved!

Another fun activity was learning to make pumpkin pie with our friends!

We also had a little bit of great weather mixed in with the cold, snowy weather. We enjoyed going on nature walks at the Nature center!

To celebrate reading goals, we get free pizzas at Pizza Hut for reading a certain amount of books each month! They love it, but Lily really doesn't need an incentive to read. She is always walking around with a book. She is even known to walk around the grocery store with me while reading. I just have to tell her to turn so she doesn't run into walls! She started the year reading a lot of Rainbow Fairy books. Now she is reading a lot of Nancy Drew, American girl, and Secret Zoo.

Lastly, Lily finished one of her grammar books already this year. It is always fun to have a change of pace as she gets to focus on other curriculum.
